Sweet Convention Activities. Saturday, August 28th!
Open house style birthday party… I mean Convention! Drop in any time, but please register! Good conversation, snacks, and drinks to be had all day long!

Michael got a PS5!
From the end of the BBQ till my children decide you all have to leave, hang out and enjoy conversation while someone plays PS5! It might be my 5 year old, it might be you!
Hops tasting! With beer!
Hops are the lifeblood of Northwest beers! Gain a better understanding of the difference by tasting some different Hops.
Here is how it works. You will receive a Coors light or similar very mildly flavored beer. You will receive a plastic cup. Everyone will get one pellet of each hop variety and we will sample different varieties (accompanied by my very learned commentary, of course). You can drop it up into a small amount of beer and get a good sense of the flavor. It is kind of like making tea!
Speaking of tea… non-alcoholic options are available! You can literally make a “hop tea“ to get a sense of flavor and aroma for hops.
This activity is totally not market research for me to use when deciding what beers I should make next.
BBQ Party!
It’s a BBQ, it’s a party! Its what I expect most people will show up for? RSVP PLEASE
it’s earlier than most BBQs, why? We’ll because my kids wake up at 5 in the morning and I’m starving by 11, and it’s my gee dee convention so lunch is when I say it is!
We’ll have bratz (for the glory of Double D’s meats), ribs (the spice will flow), and grilled versions of the glorious bounty of Laura’s garden (how not to die, backyard garden version)!
Basic hot dogs also available (for kids or ppl who want hot dogs instead of the sweet ribs and bratz).
More bubble wands can you can wave a juice at… or bubble juice than you can wave a bubble wand at.. yah! That’s it!
With luck, all the sod I put in won’t have died, so there will be great outdoor seating and chilling under my thousand year old Totoro Trees. Connect with nature! and with BBQ! and with other MichaelCon attendees!
Beer Making Beer Hour!
We’ll be brewing a nice beer! Pro Bono council engaged in an exhaustive survey a few months ago and we landed on this recipe:
Lucky for us all, Michael (of MichaelCon) had the foresight to “mash” overnight, so all that is left to do now is to boil, throw in some hops, and talk about beer (while drinking beer) for an hour!

Sit down, grab a mimosa, coffee, or tea, and enjoy the greatest animation animation created over the last year and a half or so.
